I’ve spent much of my career studying, teaching, supervising, and practicing one thing that affects nearly every part of our lives: how people connect.
I'm a counselor, educator, researcher, and lifelong student of human behavior. My work has taken me from professional dance, to clinical practice and counselor education to clinical quality, supervision, behavioral research, and teaching.
Across all of those spaces, I kept noticing the same thing:
We spend remarkably little time practicing how to talk to one another.
We practice for exams.
We train for jobs.
We practice presentations.
We practice sports.
We rehearse performances.
But when it comes to some of the most consequential moments in our lives—setting a boundary, giving feedback, asking for what we need, navigating conflict, repairing a relationship, saying something difficult—we're often expected to simply know how to do it.
I don't think that's fair.
And I don't think conversational skill should be treated as something you're either naturally good at or you're not.
I believe conversation is a practice.
That belief is what led me to create Converstaytion.
My goal isn't to teach people to sound perfect, say the "right" thing, or turn every interaction into a communication formula.
It's to create a space where people can slow down, experiment, notice, reflect, and try again.
Because real conversations are unpredictable.
People interrupt.
They misunderstand us.
They get defensive.
They surprise us.
They change the subject.
They say something we weren't prepared for.
That's exactly why practice matters.
Our approach
Converstaytion draws from behavioral science, counseling, education, communication research, and years of experience observing how people interact—but the experience itself is intentionally practical and accessible.
You don't have to be in therapy.
You don't have to have a communication problem.
You don't have to know exactly what you need to work on.
You just have to have a conversation worth practicing.
You just need to be willing to stay in the conversation.
We’re glad you’re here. Let’s practice.
